Well guys, got up to Tahoe a day late.
Traffic was at a standstill on I 80 East yesterday. We tried it for bout 5 miles, took us 45 min so we turned around and went to my daughter's house in Brentwood. Only took us 45 minutes to get to her house, WOW.
Left Brentwood this mornin and got here bout 2pm.
Beautiful drive and the snow is really deep.
So much so that it cracked the cross beam in our back room.
Not sure the beam itself is cracked. It doesn't appear to be but the plaster on the outside of it is and its bowing down pretty bad.
I'll get the snow off the back roof and see if the beam goes back in place. If not, major repairs this summer.
Oh Well. Whatcha gonna do. There's tons of snow on our roof.
The rest of the house is built to handle more load than that back room so hopefully we'll be good on the rest of the house.
I took some pics of the snow load and the beam in the back room.β˜ΉπŸ‘Ž
At least the whole thing didn't collapse. πŸ‘
Gotta look on the bright side. Can't do anything about it now but shovel the roof off and hope for the best. πŸ€”πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Yeah it looks bad, but I shined a light on it and you can't see any broken wood on the beam. Just the plaster on the outside.
However, that is a 6x8 beam that we laminated , glued and screwed, plywood to the sides of the beam when we jacked it up to try to put a slight upward bow in that beam.
I use to have a 6x6 support beam I could put under it but we took that out years ago.
Hopefully it's still in the garage somewhere. If not, I'll get another one this summer.

I'm gonna get the snow off the roof tomorrow. We'll see if it looks better and stops saging down after the snow is gone.

Holy cow Steve, that's a lot of snow! Be careful trying to clear it off , we don't want any injuries. Good luck with the beam, hopefully it's only cosmetic damage. Be safe buddy.
