Hello from Dallas!
Joined last night hoping to see some local fishing reports. I like both fresh and shallow saltwater fishing. I don’t own a boat so I either go when friends invite me or fish from the bank/wade. I’m exploring the shores of White Rock Lake in Dallas, just to scratch the itch. Anyone else fish White Rock?

Welcome aboard C. We have a lot of members from your state that post some nice pictures of there catch and some are monster LM Bass. Have some from the gulf areas doing the same thing. Should be some along today to chat with you.

White Rock lake is not great, but you will have fun bank fishing there I guess... I see a tone of people doing it but not catching anything! I recommend heading out to Lake Lavon or take a short drive out to Lake Fork, about a 50 minute drive from downtown Dallas. THATS where you will find some nice Bass action, however on both those lakes mentioned, a boat is the best method to reach the big fish... Have fun, tight lines!

Hi everyone, I just moved to Texas as well. I’m about 5 minutes from Lake Ray Hubbard. Anyone fish there? I have a boat and I’m going to go out soon. Any intel is appreciated.

I have fished Ray Hubbard a bit in my boat. The best area for largemouth and Hybrid, from the highway on the South side, if you launch from the Marina at Bass Pro, go south towards the Electric Plant and there is an inlet on the west side that goes back about a quarter mile into an area where all banks are covered in high reeds out to about 2ft of water and then lily pads. The water is shallow, but you should be able to navigate it with a trolling motor. I have had lots of success back there with both Texas Rigged worms (motor oil or watermelon) in the reeds and lily pads as well as shallow swimming crank baits outside the reeds into deeper water. Right now the bass will be in about 20-25 feet of water so stick to the middle of the inlets and coves, you will probably hit the hybrids out there, but come spring time, the areas I first mentioned are gold!

A much closer and probably a better area might be Ray Hubbard... Give it a look as well, I see a lot of success from the banks out there since there is more access to some really well vegetative areas where the fish are! Good luck! Ray Hubbard is about 15 minutes from Downtown Dallas to the East.

Thanks! I have caught some from White Rock before it got cold. Mostly dinks but a couple over 2 lbs. I have learned not to throw anything I’m not willing to lose as the bottom eats lures.

I hope to get out there once it warms up and the bass start to move up shallow. Need to find some good bank spots or parks.
