Howdy

wondering if anyone on this forum has some insights on where to find them i'd appreciate it.

I know the places the state stocks but most of those get fished out in a day or three around here (Essex County NJ) so hoping for some guidance on some stream/rivers where I might have a shot at a trout on a nymph.

Welcome Banquo!
Plenty of opportunities for nymphimg in the northwest part of the Garden State. I have done well on the Big Flatbrook, Paulinskill & Musconetcong rivers. Also, you could try the Pequest (near the hatchery) & the south branch of the Raritan at Ken Lockwood Gorge.
Good luck!

Fly anglers like the upper Manasquan as well as the Metedeconk rivers.

Great replies for Banquo...and it would appear that you have some world class trout fishing spots to choose from by the looks of those photos from steelhead Mickey! Good luck when you get a chance to try any of their suggestions!

There are still some large bows in the Pequest around the hatchery.

There are some in Crystal Lake by OSPAC, also stock Verona Park and South Mountain Reservation not far from Papermill Playhouse. Have fun!!

Found a couple of bows in the Lamington River in Hacklebarney state park yesterday.
