Been great up here out of Blaine as well. Everyone got a very generous crab cocktail before our turkey dinner.

Where do you go to get them? I want to take my older brother, he isn't super steady on his feet, got any ideas? (We're in Olympia)

Welcome Krusty Krab. I live in Blaine. If you see me at the ramp, (17 foot center console Klamath with radio antenna off center and two downriggers, be sure to say high). What else do you fish for when not crabbing? I usually target sand dabs and sole, also lings during the short season. Salmon season has been so reduced in area 7 that I usually don't bother. It seems the waves know my boat is small so they build up for ling and salmon season keeping me off the water.

Hope to see you out there. I have a 22 foot Hewes, but as you say its been pretty choppy. No fun . I'm going to have to try for some dabs and sole. I want to try for some halibut in the spring. This past year, opening day was a nice boat ride.

Just an FYI, the dabs seam to, for the most part, head out to deep water for the winter, much like halibut. It seams when I do get out in Nov. I end up with mostly sole. Even the sole count goes way down. On the positive side, The fish that stick around are gigantic for their species.

As for the halibut, my boat is to small and open to safely head out into the strait. Hopefully, with some work and a lot of good luck, I will have my Mako back in the water this spring. Maybe I will be able to put all those years as a charter captain in Alaska to good use. Stay warm and enjoy the holidays.
