Welcome to the Forum, Sgroi. We do not have a lot of members from VA., I hope you receive a positive answer.
Welcome, Sgroi. I was out at buoy 8, opposite Urbanna VA yesterday. I marked quite a few, didn't hook any. I was by myself with only two lines out, and only for an hour or so. The rockfish are slowly moving out toward the bay. The water temp was hovering between 58 and 59.

I believe you will catch fish ,
Plan to fish the area roughly between Urbanna and Stingray point this Saturday 11/26 weather permitting. I'll let you know what happens.
Hi Firefly. I fished from just above buoy 8 across from Urbana down to the bridge last Saturday..Was marking some fish but didn’t have any luck. My local advisor said I should have worked between buoy 8 and 10, farther upstream. He also advised to slow the troll to 2 mph. Good luck! I’m in Faifax until next week or I would be calling you!
Thanks Starshooter.. I'll definitely run up stream and see what happens! Appreciate the Intel. Wish I was on the water right now.. lol.. I'll be back in touch with whatever I find... good or bad. Thanks again
Marked lots of fish at #8.. and about a mile or so on either side. Lots of fish. Also lots of boats.. wow.. was nice to see folks enjoying a spectacular Saturday.. however somewhat difficult to navigate. I didn't feel comfortable deploying the trolling motor in that much boat traffic. Couldn't get my trolling speed under about 3. Trolled a little bit of everything in the tackle bag but came up empty. Usually can nab a fish or two there, but no luck this time. Really marked so many fish yesterday I felt like I should have been jigging. Didn't want to spot lock in the middle of the established trolling lanes and interfere with others trolling..
Plan to head back in a couple of weeks and fish three or four days mid-week.. root around some different spots in a little more orderly focused detail.. didn't have time yesterday to work any structure etc. Good luck out there everyone!
Well, I pulled the Parker today without boating any striper- This is my first year fishing the Rappahannock. I am perplexed. I boated a few Spanish Mackerel earlier, a few blues, but the Rock seem to ignore my chartreuse and white shad baits, my spoons, my $22 diving baits. I mark them, but no bites. I caught a keeper off my dock a few weeks back as consolation. As any fisherman says, "I'll be back". Next year is around the corner. Merry Christmas everyone!
