Any suggestions for the best fishing knives?

I'm doing some early shopping for my bf for Christmas, and I truly wanna stay away from amazon. Any suggestions for smaller businesses, knife makers, or recommended knives for fishing? I want to stay around a $250-350 price range. Any information at all will be incredibly helpful. Thanks so much for everyone's time in advance, and I look forward to what information you can share!

Any knife from the Salt series from Spyderco will work well for fishing. They are 100% rust proof. I’ve been bringing a Pacific Salt with me when I go to the tide pools for 3-4 years now. Not a single speck of rust. You can gut a fish, dip it in salt water to wash it off, and throw it back in your pocket.

$250? I buy cheap knives. Usually Dexter Russell. They get stained, chipped and lost. I use then to pry and other things that I wouldn't do with a good knife.
To be honest, I would be too scared to use that expensive of a knife.
If you are looking for other ideas- a Boga grip, nice pliers or nice sunglasses are options

Thank you so much. I honestly didn't even think of getting multiple items. I was really wrapped up in getting him the best knife I could. I have minimal fishing experience, so thank you for all of the knowledge. It is so much appreciated!

Can confirm knife could get dropped off boat, into lake in use. Done it once or twice.

That’s a lot for fishing knives. I use stainless moras, which can be had for under $15.

Does he have a multi-tool? Leatherman makes an assortment of very nice ones. They go for around 100 bucks give or take depending on which one you get. They come with pliers, two knives usually, one serrated one not, screwdriver, files. That's what I carry, I'd be lost without it. And you can buy some little non-skid adhesive strips to put some non-skid grips on it so it won't like out of his hand. And maybe a lanyard to strap it to his body so it won't go over the side. If you're not going to get him one, I'd like one, I could use a new one.

Start with a flexible Rapala filet knife. Great price for a quality German steel blade that holds its edge and very flexible for those of us that filet up and over back bone trying to get all that sweet meat next to the bone! Uncle Henry makes another stay sharp blade a little stiff but great cutting thru bones. Then there`s the new Bubba blade, got one too and only use it for x-large filet`s, mostly sits in its case. Favorite is a old black handled 7" Rapala filet knife not made anymore. Rapala Fish Camp Filet is closest I can find. Getting one for nephew x-mas gift. U be talkin serious $$$$ - everything in me tackle box does not come near that kinda bucks. Me I use a cheap sharp Chinese piece of crap - just keep it sharp, clean and oiled. If I lose it overboard no big deal.
