the uniknot for all applications
when using the uni knot with braid give uta couple extra wraps
Does anyone here use a Double Palomar or Nano-fil knot? Is it appreciably stronger than a standard Palomar knot?
Also, does anyone actually use superglue over the knot? Roland Martin says that it adds a few percent more strength?

Braid to leader or mono backing to braid gets an FG knot. Leader material not much bigger than 20# or braid to hook/lure gets a palomar knot. I have a lot of confidence in both knots.

I'm knew so sorry for dumb question. What is braid. I thought there was fly line, leader, then tippet.

I have lost fish with to the Palomar knot slipping, I have tied them and watched them slip lately I found the double Palomar and have tried to make them slip. Didn't happen but the line broke above the knot twice. I busted my rear both times. Heck that ain't any surprise I fall a lot anyway now. I've never used supper glue but I can see that it might help, although I've read lately that they make a special glue for that
For fly fishing, yes... you are correct. Braid, on the other hand, is for level-winds and spinning reels. Multi-filiment, rather than standard mono. Depending on -- how you are fishing, what line(s) you are using, what the "terminal tackle" attachment is ----choices of "proper" knots will be as varied as the opinions expressed above. Learn a few from YouTube, practice "your favorites" before you get to the water, would be my advice. Good luck !
Braid to hook I use a spider hitch when I can get away with it. Braid to mono? You can't beat the Alberto Knot.
I used the improved berkley knot for years & never had a reason to change. It worked. After breaking my right wrist I started with the polamar because it was easier for me. Great knot. Uni is my line to line knot but it is getting harder for me to tie, I'm slow at it.
Usually I use a palomar knot with most line to swivel or line to hook knots. With braid to hook you can use the double palomar. When I do line to line knots such as braid to mono I do am Albright knot. Also works great with mono to mono. Good luck!

Freck37 -- let's have a link or picture of that $400 swimbait, please. I have seen $20-$40 ones and thought them excessively priced.... need to see what 10 times that looks like. While you're at it, please tell us what the targeted species would be and what kind of rod/reel/line would be appropriate.
I'm guessing if I had a $400 LURE, I would be using 200lb+ braid, to ensure that it came back to me !
I’m with you on that one. I’d be hard pressed to not use chain if I was about to throw a $400 lure.
Polomar knot. Donot for get to come back thru loop on braided line to hold knot.
Uni knot on braid to mono.
There are others but thirst are easiest for me.
