I’ve had braid pop loose on a Uni before, but it could’ve just been poorly tied. They aren’t always perfect when the fish are biting and I’m sitting in the kayak trying to hurry another lure on.

I can understand that, lots of people find it a tough one to tie in a hurry or when they’re feeling under pressure.

I use the palomar knot for literally everything now, except spinnerbaits because I can't figure out a way to make the knot work on a spinnerbait (no proper eyelet). Double uni for line to line connections is definitely the move.

Improved clench for just about every complete lure (cranks, jigs) palomar for dropshot or paddletail jighead, snell knot for Worm or EWG, uni to uni for braid to leader on location or a FG knot if I tie ahead of time. I like to tie an extra overhand if I tie direct braid as it can (rarely) slip. Not sure if it makes a difference but I do it just in case seems to work good

I’ve had an issue in the past with the double-uni snapping the 17# flouro leader on 30# braid. Have any of you had the same problem?

Check out the Albright knot. I use it on 60# braid to #17# flourish with zero issues.

1.palomar, I use this knot for essentially everything as I’ve been told by swimbaiters (some who use baits valued at upwards of $400) that it is hands down the strongest and most confident knot in their arsenal

2. Albright knot always holds true for me whenever I need to tie on a leader. Has held on 100+ lb tuna and 10+lb bass. I’ll never have doubts. Just check the leader for abrasions frequently.

Used to use palomar knot till I mastered the uni knot. Must be tied right with spit to tighten up. Inshore palomar fine for leader to hook but offshore take the time to tie uni or main line to swivel with one of the best all around tackle testing knots work. Loop knots with tag end down work well with inshore finesse lures! Pick out a few and master them. Check for scuff marks by hook in rocky bottoms or big fish scuffs and retie it, check above sinker too! Tight Lines

Uni and double uni works great for me with braid and mono if done properly. It is sufficiently fast when practiced a few times. All knots are poor if not tied carefully.

I like to use the Polymer Knot for all lines
It is easy and recommended, slip free, strong
Once you tie it for awhile it gets to be second nature

to tie a set of two different strengths line together i use a albright knot, lines of the same strengths i use a blood knot it works well with nylon to plastic. bamini knot works well hooks as it gives it more movement clinch knot for swivels but for lures i use a rapala knot that also give great movement

[quote=FS Digest]Braid to leader or mono backing to braid gets an FG knot. Leader material not much bigger than 20# or braid to hook/lure gets a palomar knot. I have a lot of confidence in both knots.

I second the FG knot for mono to braid.

Never ever use braid to hook!

Use the Uni- knot for most applications.

Freck37 -- let's have a link or picture of that $400 swimbait, please. I have seen $20-$40 ones and thought them excessively priced.... need to see what 10 times that looks like. While you're at it, please tell us what the targeted species would be and what kind of rod/reel/line would be appropriate.
I'm guessing if I had a $400 LURE, I would be using 200lb+ braid, to ensure that it came back to me !
