What is your preferred knot for different applications
- What knot do you use for braid to hook(in what applications or do you use one knot all the time)?
- What knot for braid to mono/Fluoro? Mono to mono?
- Do you just use one knot for everything or is it different for different lures?

Fish N Fool knot for all terminal connections with all line types. Double Uni for line to line connections.

That’s exactly what I use now. I’ve recently had the line cut itself on the eyelets of a 5/0 EWG worm hook though. I was looking for a new knot to use for everything or maybe just for Texas rig

Braid to leader or mono backing to braid gets an FG knot. Leader material not much bigger than 20# or braid to hook/lure gets a palomar knot. I have a lot of confidence in both knots.

Fish N Fool for almost everything. Nail knot for fly line to leader. Sometimes I use a Palomar with braid.

WTH is “Fish N Fool”?
I try to keep it really minimal. I use either a Uni or a Palomar for most hooks & lures, Double Uni for line to line, and dropper loop for, well, loops.

I didn’t know it had a name either. But it’s the basic knot I think everyone learned as a kid. It’s actually what I use now on all terminal. I use double uni for line to line as well though.
Why do you use polomar?

Oh weird I just looked up Fish N Fool, had never heard of it. It’s really similar to Uni.
I use a Palomar on treble hook baits often, and I tend to use it when I’m fishing fluoro leaders because I like the extra give it has vs a Uni.

I recommend the palomar (or however you spell it) because it doesn't slip on braid, and it is the fastest knot I know how to tie. The biggest reason is the no-slip on braid though. The "Fish N Fool" seemed to come loose like 50% of the time on my braid so I switched to palomar and haven't lost a hook to a bad knot s ince.

Fish N Fool is just a Uni with the line passed through the hook eye twice instead of once.

Sure thing. I just found out about it this year, and it’s been great for me so far.

It’s interesting that they say Uni will slip on braid. I’ve never had that happen but I can see why it might. Maybe I’ll start doubling my line through the eye just to be safe :)
