Well guys. Today Ben and I went to the Petaluma striper fishin. Got there bout 0715 and was fishin by 0745.
We fished HARD till nearly 1pm and we NEVER GOT A BITE.
We even went all the way out to San Pablo Bay, where the Pet River dumps into the bay. Nothin.
Trolled and cast lures all over the place and nothing.
It was a very cold start but turned absolutely beautiful bout 1030 on.
Burned a quarter tank of gas in bout 5 1/2 hours. But that's only bout 4 gals.
Ben and I have been fishin together for awhile now and today is the FIRST time we've ever been skunked.
That's winter fishin for ya.
Oh well. Was a nice day to be out on the water no matter what.

Had to check my calendar. Thought it was April 1st. It happens to the best of us Steve but at least you had a safe day on the water with a friend. A good day in my book. 👍

I know, That's what I was thinkin too. Whatsup with that?
When Ben and I started fishin together I think it was winter couple years ago maybe. We were catchin good fish every time. I kept tellin him it wasn't normal to catch fish like that during the winter but we kept it up. Well, it finally caught up with us. I mean not even a bite today.
My fish finder stopped workin today, wonder if that had anything to do with it?
I've been needin a new one anyway. Just don't know which one I wanna get.

Suppose to have been good fishin from bout 0630 to 0830 and it was an out goin tide today so it should have been ok. I just don't know if there were any fish in the river today.
Course, every time we kill them for a short period of time and they quit bitin, we always say, "If we hadn't been here when the fish were bitin like that you'd think there wasn't a fish in the river." When they shut down, they shut down. One min you're catchin one on nearly ever cast and then they vanish. Don't know where they go or what happens. Really strange.

Welcome to our world Steve.I would happily trade a day riding around in the boat, for tomorrow's 12° high temperature, with -20° wind chill. Hopefully the 36hr prediction for the arctic blast is correct, and it's over Wednesday.

LOL, it was a beautiful day and we cruised/trolled/casted a lot of the river all the way to San Pablo Bay.
Definitely was cold in am but when the sun rose, it was a nice day.
Surprised but we were due for a zero bite day. We did get those 10lb plus last two trips......River just balancing the bite.....again, lol!!

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger Steve, I've had a couple dry runs this new year.
