Welcome to the Stage Dchang. We've got a few members out on the Island, they'll be along.
Thanks. It saves everybody's time if people share local fishing info.

I’ll let you know come spring time. I’m not out there this time of year. There’s always cod if you go off shore but you’ll need a boat. My fishing friends have their boats out of the water.
April we can try finding some winter flounder, till then I’m off the water.
Ponds and streams are not frozen so all freshwater fishing is available. Herring are running.
Thanks Big Dog. I would like to try winter flounder in the springtime. Where can we find them on Long Island?
Thanks Dshecht. It looks like herring is the only one we can fish from surf in the season.
Any good spot for herring?
I'm afraid that winter flounder are mostly a thing of the past. They used to be so plentiful that party boats would go out just for them. My old tackle box is still full of winter flounder hooks and rigs.😂
Oh, no. That is not a good news.
A welcome my name is larry i fish out of wantagh on the south shore. Fishing from my boat i target fluke, striped bass, and blackfish. There are many party boats out of Freeport and you can fish off the pier at field 10 at jones beach state park. You can also target fish from the surf at jones or fish jones inlet with access from I believe field 1. Good luck.
Jones Inlet is fished from Field 2 with a substantial walk on sand. Also from West End Work Dock beach, but you need a permit to drive in. Not a bad walk from Coast Guard Boat Basin - no permit needed.

You’re only allowed 2 that are 12 inches. Doesn’t pay. I miss that fishery. Every

I’d recommend Shinnicock Inlet and the Shinnicock canal. That may be one of the better spots. There aren’t nearly as many as there used to be but there are some around.
