Most of the time I fish by myself. Many reasons I do fish alone. In my circle of friends not many of them fish and the one or two that do. Will only fish for walleye. My favorite to fish for at home is the smallmouth. I love taking my grandkids and my three daughters. By the way the daughters can fish with the best of any fisherman. The problem with them is they don't live close. We do get to fish together when we can.
Don't get me wrong. I love fishing with other people. I just don't mind and enjoy fishing alone. I can do what I want. When I want and as long or as short as I want. I fish some lakes that are a seven-hour drive from home. Unless my wife goes with me, I go alone. Have invited others but nobody has had the time. I fly to Alaska by myself and salmon fish. I have made many friends there in the past nine years and seldom fish alone. But if no one is around I fish alone. I will only travel to Alaska alone also as do most of my friends there do. We have even talked about it. If you come alone, you get to do whatever you want.
I do like fishing with other people and to prove it you are all invited!

I understand I do 80%of my fishing alone. Wading or in my kayak. However I love fishing with my grandson.

I'm usually alone in my boat, for the freedom of doing whatever I want, and I've got it setup to fish solo. I often fish with friends who have their own boats, so it becomes a mini competition. The wife doesn't fish any more, and we don't have children, so it works out well.

The last couple of years, I’ve been fishing alone more often than not, for the same reasons. My only steady fishing partner is my 12 year old grandson and he usually wants to leave before I do. I used to be hesitant to go by myself, partly because as a woman, I have to be extra vigilant about safety - so I go to places that aren’t too remote, and keep my phone and pepper spray within easy reach. Not that I wouldn’t mind some company but I always have alla you in mind, for guidance and to share my catches and stories with.

I seldom fish alone anymore. My wife has gotten into fishing and we spent a lot of our summer fishing together. And I love it!

That said, I miss fishing alone. Do what I want for AS LONG as I want. I hate to leave! There is a bit of pressure and a lot of responsibility when you have another out with you on a boat. Solo I can really relax and unwind!

I am typically alone for the first couple hours, but if I come in with a few in the live well the late sleepers become more interested. Then it is mostly focusing on them catching something as most are beginners. If my Son Brady is around he has no problem joining me for the sunrise.

Good topic 57! I too like fishin alone. The problem fishing with others is that you are trying to make sure they have a good time and catch fish. At least when they are in my boat. If they don't, you feel somewhat guilty. Being alone simplifies that tremendously. Most of my friends I take are not true fishermen like the people here on the stage. I would have no problem fishing with many of you folks here on this site as I think we get it and understand why we are out here. Plus we can learn from each other.

On a daily basis I fish alone, only because my gear is always in the truck so I frequently will stop at any body of water and wet a line. but I have 2 fishing buddies that I do tournaments with and a charter captain that I tag stripers with. two very different types of "fishing" experiences.

Often fish alone but also enjoy company. When I’m crick fishing I prefer to be one my own but out there on the ocean absolutely need the company.

If the weathers bad she’s not coming. But other than that your 100% correct. All it took was one 5lb catfish and she was hooked!

I did that a lot when I had my big boat in the salt. Took a lot of mostly non fishing friends, and tried to give them a good experience. We had a in shop Bluefish tournament one year, 6 guy's from work with boats, and their chosen crews. I had 2 nonfishermen, and 2 freshwater guys on my crew. We cleaned house, taking all 4 prize categories. It was a very $ rewarding day, and bragging rights for a year.
I would love to spend a day on the water with you OBG, as well as most of the regulars on the Stage. I'm hoping to accomplish that after retirement, at least as much as I can afford to.
