Good mornin', John, welcome to the Forum. Stream fishing is most successful if you have waders and walk in the center of the stream and fish upstream. You have to be able to read the flow of the stream and fish the seams of the riffle. It's too much work for the fish to fight the riffle so they will be in the seams, or behind a rock, or in the eddys. Let the bait/fly/spinner flow downstream as it naturally would. Good luck!.
