Idk why but kayaks in the ocean make me uneasy. Probably because I’m land locked, but I can’t be the only one, right?!

I bet it is less than 3 ft deep where she is. Most saltwater fishing is done on inshore bays, which are very shallow, not at all like the ocean.

Well that helps. This was coming from someone who’s kayak hasn’t been near a “big” lake. When I’ve been on the bigger lakes I do get a bit nervous knowing a 6 year old, cheapest new one I found, and shaky kayak is the only thing keeping my tackle from the bottom.

I've seen monster bull sharks in the shallow bay waters. Just as scary there as any where else

Eh, - she is a good bit awa from the marsh grass - likely 10-12' of water there. For my area, when the marsh grass stops, it typically drops from a tidal area to constant 3'-10' relatively quickly. Plus depending on area could have large tidal swings (my location has ~7'-0" swings on average)

If this is Texas, which looks like it is, then it most likely is 2 ft.
Regardless, if y'all are too scared to fish then don't go out. More for me and the OP.

I regularly see kayakers off the coast where I fish. It drops off real quick to 100-300 ft deep even a few hundred yards out.

Yep that would be offshore not inshore. I’m referring to bay/marsh systems

No, I hear ya. Sometimes I'll go out on my own just for a cruise and it gets pretty sketchy pretty quick. The fear of the unknown dark water I guess! Still, I love to go out on my kayak and fish. Nothing like seeing a spot you want, paddling over and having practically 360 degrees of casting range.

My favorite fish to catch and eat!

9e, I am so jealous of that catch. Got me beat in my kayak pb is 19 inches. Glad to see that vest on you, I tucked my release handle up in the pouch, figured if I go in just open up that Velcro and there it is. I feared accidently catching that handle on something while fishing.
