Interested in the latest fishing report for the south skyway bridge. Thinking of heading up there tomorrow. Thanks
I haven't been out there lately, have heard some small macks with an occasional 16-17 incher are being caught mostly by guys that don't have a clue. That pier is so long it's impossible to know for sure what's happening on the entire stretch. I'm waiting for the fronts from the NW to start moving in with some good 15mph winds.....that's when the macks move inshore in good numbers and good size...20" and above. Some mangrove snappers still around, but only a few guys know how and when to get a limit. Get out there and check it out
Sinker Rig: When you mention Macs, I am confused because it isn't a term used herein Texas as far as I know. Do you mean Spanish Mackerel or perhaps King Mackerel, or something else entirely? I don't mean to sound critical, I just didn't understand.
I love to catch Spanish Mackerel, the very first time was on South Padre Island at the land cut near Raymondville, Texas. I was completely amazed at the speed in which they swam, much faster than anything else I had ever caught. And they regularly would bite my mono line into until I started using a short steel leader. Just Sayin....RJS
Spanish Mackerel, a few big Kings are caught around the skyway piers at times, but not consistently
