Trout do not live through the summer here. They are "planted" by the Texas Fish and Game. Usually starting in specific locations in late November through February.

There is only one year-round freshwater trout fishery in Texas. It is the Canyon Tailrace on the Guadalupe River. This is the only stream with water conditions that are cool enough to support trout year-round.

MN1977 you are roughly 600 miles west of Canyon Lake and by the time you make Dallas you will be 400 miles North of Canyon lake. Just in case you are not Familiar with Texas.

You could head east on I-10 and then North on I-35 and you will go right by it. However, that is the long way around to get to Dallas from El Paso.

Hope that helps you.
