Just moved into the area a few months ago and really getting the itch to do some fishing. Can anyone give me some clues where the better areas are to catch crappie this time of year? Don't want your honey holes just looking for some guidance to better chance areas. Thanks
Welcome Nolen. If you can post your location in Georgia, there may be FS members in your area that can make suggestions. I'm in NE TN near Knoxville. Crappie fishing here should start seriously in the next month as the water temps cool down.

Nolen, I'm from TN and found the Crappie habits all across the south are pretty close to the same. This time of year they will be moving toward their spring areas. They'll set up in deeper holes or creek channels near the middle to back end of creeks or if you live on an impoundment the river. I've had some mixed results this year but under docks in this type area is a good place to start. Here they've been suspending 10 to 12 under docks in 20 to 30 feet of water. Here's a video of Bass master Brandon Lester fishing the lake I live on that should help some.

Checkout this website gon.com. It will give you fishing reports for all major lakes and rivers in Georgia. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply and good ideas. I live in Vienna ga near the Flint river where it feeds into lake Blackshear. I use to live in Nashville and fished Percy Priest, Old Hickory and Center Hill areas before I went into the Military along long time ago. LOL thanks for the info and good luck to ya.

Thanks Ivy for the tips. I will try to locate some opf those areas on Blackshear. Good luck with your fishing!
Not sure about crappie but caught a few small stripers and a large mouth on Cedar Creek last weekend near cypress trees. We were there all day but they didn't start hitting until late afternoon/early evening. Mostly on white swim baits. Good luck!

I'm sending a few links to a map of your area, you can zoom in and out
https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#boating@14&key=mr%60bEhmg_OThe hole on the left side of the bridge I'd try and any bridge pilings long the way try the shaded side.
https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#boating@14&key=eldbEpzi_OAround any of the flooded timber close to the deeper water, I'd just work up and down the channel break till I found fish. cast from deep tp shallow.
https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#boating@14&key=awabEj%60h_OBoth areas with the red fish sign fish shallow to deep with a grub or minnow.
These areas jumped out at me and if I were to come there I defiantly take a look.
Hope this helps some
