My sister wanted the kids for the night so we were able to head out fishing for the forth Saturday night in a row!!
Headed to Norwalk reservoir. Hit the water about 3:30. Wife and I throwing spinners for bass, while a couple bobber rigs with chartreuse jig heads and crawlers soak. At 4:00 fish on! Let’s just say wife and I had some tension before this point of the evening so I set the hook felt the weight and handed the rod to my wife. She took the rod and fought the fish. I thought upon hook up it was a 2-3lb bass. As it was about a foot down she attempted to hoist it from the water. Unfortunately?! it was a 5lb cat and the line snapped just as it breeched the water. My rookie mistake, I should have had the net!!!!
We fished past dark throwing spinners and cranks with those same bobbers soaking. Narrowly avoided a skunk, one little crappie decided to hit a crank bait 1/2 his size. Still enjoyed our night.
Not going to “call my shot” on my next fishing trip. Every time I do on the stage it seems to not work out as planned. But I will say I plan to fish soon with my buddy, who is an excellent bass guy, in a great area and I hope to have a fish filled post soon🤞🏻
Beautiful Lake!
Great Story!
Thanks J in C.

Tough night J, but the little guy saved the day.LOL. Beautiful lake, and you know there's a 5lb Largemouth hanging around under that tree. Throw an unweighted Dinger on a 4/0 EWG hook, and hang on! Good luck on the mystery trip, and we'll be waiting for pictures.
Nice post J, thanks for sharing. I don’t think I have seen a heron using a man made structure before.
J: keep on pitching, looks like a great lake for fishing, and even at night should be productive. Just Sayin....RJS
Nice overview of your "date night" out on the water...which is awesome that you guys get to share fishing together! The location looks inviting, and I know that you typically do well there, so hey...now and then an off night of fishing happens! That catfish is one lucky critter to have escaped by an oversight that could have happened to any of us! It used up one of it's "nine" whiskers (lives)!

Looks like a beautiful lake J. You and your wife had a nice bonding date night sans kids which we all need once in a while. Too bad about the cat, at least you weren’t skunked.

Thanks, for sharing, J, beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your evening with us J ! You weren't skunked,,, and you were with your bride fishing ,,,,who could ask for more !! Beautiful pics, Good Luck on your next outing my friend !!
I don't consider loosing a fish getting skunked. I believe it is getting whipped. Been there, done that. If you get lots of bites but don't land lots of fish, that is a good day of fishing. As for the fisherman???? Been there too. We all have those days when we can't put a fish in the boat no mater how much nature cooperates. It's all good.
