It was about 6:30 P.M. on October 9th. that I began searching the T.V. guide for the station that would be carrying the Alabama vs Texas A.& M. football game to be played at Kyle Field in College Station, TX. Since I now live in Round Rock, which is a bedroom city of Austin and under the influence of the University of Texas, a lifelong rival of Texas A. & M. and always against all that the Aggies stood for, I was not at all surprised that it would be hard to find, if it were carried at all. Well after fumbling around for 15 or 20 minutes, I must have fallen asleep.
In my dream, I saw A. & M. take the lead early on and virtually dominate Alabama for three quarters. Alabama only leads in the scoring for only 4 or 5 minutes in the fourth quarter before A. & M. scores in the waning moments of the game and wins it, 38 to 41!
Immediately, the field is covered with jubilant Aggie fans celebrating the impossible feat that could only come true in my dream! But there they were! And all the Alabama coaches on their cell phones telling their wives to put out “FOR SALE” signs in their yards.
Now, I know this was a dream because Alabama has always been ranked as number 1 and this year Texas A. & M. was ranked 25th. There’s no way a team ranked 25th can dominate a number 1 team. It was just my fantasy in a dream!
But wouldn’t it be amazing if a team of future military officers taught some lessons about football to a squad of 300- and 400-pound field hands, led by a Hispanic quarterback from California? Or could it be that Alabama got out-coached? Out played? And out scored upon? Could all that actually happen? Never happen!
But if it did happen and all the other states recognized the tremendous depth of the talent pool of football players here, there would be a stampede of schools opening branch schools in this state for the convenience of their newly recruited players. It is too expensive for all the airline tickets for their players to fly home regularly to see their mothers, and such.
But all this is simply my dream because there has been no mention of this upset victory by our Stages football commentator, or in the national press. No one will believe it. Perhaps I am the only Texas Aggie on Fishing Forum/Stages! Just Sayin…RJS
Please don't jump all over me because after all this was only a dream. Just Sayin...RJS
You have some underlying demons there Mr Rob lol.

Nice job of hooking and playing your audience Ribert. Well done.😁😆😅
You are NOT the only Aggie. I married an Aggie '83 and my FIL '50 was an Aggie. They both bled maroon and white. Large gatherings of similarly effected people would gather and yell/cheer during football season while my Aggies were still alive. Sure miss them. Long time gone...Farmers Fight! Farmers Fight! Farmers Fight, Fight. WHOOP!
Weekend Hooker: Well, I am glad to smoke out some 'fellow travelers' or Aggies! I purposefully approached the Alabama/Aggie game from an oblique angle, as you can see.
I spent my fish year at A.& M. and due to a serious car wreck that gave me a head laceration and a concussion, I almost flunked out! To regain my college deferment and not get drafted during the Korean conflict, I transferred to UNT. But I am and will always be an Aggie. More of my Aggie Fish classmates keep up with me than those at UNT. I am of the class of 1957!
God Bless and Keep you! Just Sayin...RJS
