There’s nothing wrong with keeping fish to eat. Many awesome meals there.

True. In fact catch and release is so prevalent here in New Hampshire that Fish & Game asks that you keep some of the smaller bass to eat and there is no limit on bluegill and other gamefish.

I have been working on a plan from our Illinois state biologist for 15 years by taking out all of the bass 12 " and under plus as many gills and crappie as we can each year. Plus we have put in preditory fish ( walleye, hybrid stripers, and tiger muskie) to help in the process. It is working well with catching a lot of 5 plus pound largemouths. The smaller fish are fast and can get to the food faster than the large bass can thus the logic behind the process.
I just received my weekly news letter from the Arkansas Fish and game Commission that says what is happening in a lot of lakes.
