I am a retired man now for nearly two years. Fortunately, I am blessed to have most of my time spent on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. So, I saltwater fish in the ocean and the shallow waters of the sound. Although I have been fishing for many years, I am not very productive at it. Truthfully though, it is okay. Just being out there is enjoyable with the observation of nature's wonders. Of course, I would love to be a better fisherman and maybe I will learn some useful tips here.

Welcome Govna. I just came back Monday from a week in Kill Devil Hills. Loved the area but due to some serious health issues never got to fish as planned. Can't help with the fishing, but this is a great site with many wonderful people willing to help. Enjoy retirement and fish on.

Thank you YankeeBlue, I am so sorry to hear of your illness. My heart goes out to you and I am hoping you are doing much better. Kill Devil Hills is beautiful and I fished a little on the beach this morning. The sky was amazing as the Sun rose up and hid between those clouds. Several people stopped and spoke with me. I caught a few Sea Mullets and a Spot on an outgoing tide, which is typically not the best time. Good luck with the fishing and your health.

The Govna name is from me calling everyone that with my best Australian accent that I could pull off. I always liked hearing them say it in the movies. I was born and raised in Southeastern Virginia.

Maybe soon, I will need to get some help with that like my grandkids. Currently I do not even have a mobile phone. The one I did carry was a company phone that retired with me. Honestly, I have not missed it at all. I am using an old tablet (Kindle) of my wife's relics. It has no camera, sorry Spirit. How's the fishing going in CA ?

That really depends on where you're at in California. Lots of fires and the summer heat has been pretty miserable this year. Some of us have done pretty well. I have not. Look for some of Saw1's past posts - his striper hunts on the Napa river are legendary. And NoCal Steve posted an awesome smallie just last night. Trout fishing for the most part has been a bust. Cooler and wetter weather is coming. Gonna give em hell this fall.
Quit being a Luddite and get you a nice smart phone like the rest of us so you can take photos and call 911 when you fall down the bank and can't get up.

Hee-hee, that was good and actually I know you are right. Sorry, the fishing has been off and I hope those fires get put out soon. It looks incredibly bad on tv, I sure hate seeing the destruction. Thank you for the tips and good luck this fall. One of my ex co-workers has been hounding me hard about the phone, I will pick one up soon.

Welcome Govna to FS. Plenty of good fishing tips here along with some laughs and even inspiration. It's a good group of knuckleheads.
