Is it the rod or the reel?

I have a lews Mach 2 bait caster combo I bought a while back but haven’t used a whole lot. Today I caught some bass in the 3 pound range flipping a jig. Here’s the problem…. I can feel what I think is the frame of the reel torquing, and really didn’t like that feeling. My question is will a new reel solve the issue or could it also be something on the rod e.g. the reel seat?

It could be the reel seat, not tight enough or cracked, or it could be the foot of the reel is cracked, the part of the reel that goes into the reel seat. I would say that it is that the reel seat is not tight enough

I agree with flyguy! Tighten up the reel seat and see if that dosen't solve your problem. I seriously doubt that the reel itself is giving you this sensation...Just Sayin...RJS

Try a new reel. I think that the Lew's and most other reels made today are overrated.
