Finding line strength for rod

Hello,

Relatively new to fishing (3 years), and just got first "real" setup (ie not a 30$ PoC). However im having issues figuring out what strength of line to buy. Its all strung up and i dont expect to need to replace the line anytime soon, but i like having extra line with me regardless. Ive been searching all over for the what line strength the rod is rated for but i havent turned up anything. The rod in question is a berkley twilight 10 foot 15-55g rod. Any ideas on what line strength would be good on this rod? It came strung with firewire but says nothing about the size/strength of it.

Thanks for the help!

15 to 55 grams is about 1/2 to 2 oz. Your rod is most likely a medium power rod. I would make a swag and say you want to put 25 - 30 pound fire line on it and throw about an oz of weight. I'll let you do the conversion.

There should be information about the rod back by the handle. It should give you the rod's action, line strength to use and lure weight. All my rods have it. But generally, I ignore it. I rarely use any line stronger than 12 lb.
