This is the post I was talking about from a couple of weeks ago. The fellow asked about information for a certain lake that I was familiar with, and this is what I gave him. Never got a thank you, or a you're full of crap. I'm not trying to shame anyone (well, maybe I am) so I've edited out the guy's name and the lake. I still hope he enjoyed himself and did well. Just wish we could all get a friendly reply in return for making the effort. I know
you all have had the same complaint. Here's my reply to his request:
One of my favorite lakes. It's a great lake to fish with a float tube. But if you're gonna be banking it there are any number of spots with good access from the hi way. And there is a path that goes all the way around the lake. My favorite spot is off the rocks over by the dam. Power bait or mouse tails or inflated worms work really well there. If you're tubing, a sinking fly line with a woolybugger - olive or black. If no fly rod - a casting bubble with a little water in it and drag a woolybugger around with that behind a 4 foot or so fluoro leader. If you see trout rising you can use that set up from the bank.
And welcome to the Stage *******We would love to see some pictures of lake ******* and your fish!Almost forgot. Don't forget your Back Woods or Off! Last time I was up there (last spring) the skeeters were about the size of robins and they were in full attack mode. I forgot mine and I was driven off. Remember the bad monkeys in WoOZ? Yeah. Like that.
A lot of people on FS are here only for what they can get free.
You are not one.

You can't make them acknowledge, but you can keep providing good info. Sorta like being a teacher, rarely appreciated, but you keep doing it snyway.
You're right, but I can b*tch about the rude sob's on here if I want to.
Iโm sure a lot of you out there recognize who I am ๐ฃ A while back I commented on my thoughts about sharing information and places where we fish ๐ฃ unfortunately some of us myself including has had unfortunate experiences with someone taking advantage of the good stuff ๐ mine was my own son in law ๐ฅต I took him to a very good ๐ fishing ๐ฃ spot and he turned around and invited the right next week close to 15 of his friends and bragged how they caught like 40 fish ๐ or more and kept all the fish and went back the next week and did it again ๐ฅต๐คฌ๐ก I let him know how I felt about it and itโs been over 15 years and I still will not invite him to fish ๐ฃ with me ๐ฅต๐ some individuals just have no idea or respect for the people that try to help out

That's way more than I would share....keep it simple if possible, I fell asleep reading all that help
Well, I tend to agree. Most of us have gained our fishing knowledge the hard way, but trial and error. When we tell someone else about a 'hotspot' we are taking a chance they will share with everyone else in an indiscriminate manner and pay no attention. So, do so at the risk of "lose lips sinks ships"! So to speak. When you tell about a hot spot, you have lost control of that information! Just Sayin...RJS

I have helped more then a few here and have gotten at least 10 PMs from them thanking me. It gives me a big smile on my face that I can help out. I'm not looking for a pat on the back but I'll take it when it comes.

Always feels good when someone lets you know they appreciate something donโt it? Plus it makes you want to share more again. We share because we want to but getting a little thank you, I think, makes us share a little bit more. Donโt you?
Spirit, you forgot to tell them to get off your lawn ๐
Iโve given up very specific hot spots from Shawnee lake in Oklahoma to choke canyon in Texas, saltwater in Connecticut and here in the NW. Some of them by by PMess. All spots Iโll probably never fish again. Got some thank youโs and one invite to fish with, but never a follow up. Had a brother fishing Montana with two days getting skunked, reached out to stage and got pmed marked map, techniques, and depth, he was on fish within 15 minutes of info. Made sure to let person know how much his help was appreciated and follow up how it turned outโฆ..
