Sounds like a frayed spot on the braid. That's usually why braid breaks off. Happens to us sometimes while striper fishin and we're usin 30# braid.

Nice catch Ranger, it could be something simple like a sharp rock on the bottom. Braid has incredible tensile strength, but it's abrasion resistance isn't too good. Great photos, thanks for posting.

You mean it wasn't a big fish, ?? Think you could be right, as soon as I grab the pole it broke off.

Fleming Meadows Pedro. Nice morning just me on the bank and a few bass guys in their boats but didn't see them pull anything in.

How's the water level?
Is it worth taking the boat in the evening to fish for cats if you think so let's give it a try. I have running lights on the boat.

Yeah, sometimes my line breaks right at/near the knot on the lure if I don't retie quick enough. I'll cast, and we cast HARD, and the lure just sails on off the line. The lure hits where I was intending it to go, but without my line still attached.
Stripers are HARD fighters and can be extremely rough on the braid near the lures.

Low but plenty of water to launch boats and fish.

I just throw them back. Today I target carp and cats and really enjoy catching carp they are great fighters always pulling line off your reel.
