Hey Yall,
I recently caught an 9.8lb largmouth Bass in an old pond way back in some woods but it did not put up much of a fight. Once I got him on the bank i noticed he had a big knot on top of his head(bigger than a golf ball but not as big as a tennis ball). Can anyone give me any insight as to what it might be?

A photo would have been helpful. Possibly a parasite or birth defect. Was the fishes head bigger than his belly? Asking because he may have been malnourished.

In my opinion, it was a tumor. That would explain the fish's listlessness and lack of fight. Just Sayin...RJS
