Never had an issue with the Alberto knot till last night when I started hucking out 3/4oz big swimbaits. Had the line to line snap on me twice. Maybe I just tied crappy knots though...

The Alberto knot is a good knot. You must make sure that the lines are wet when you tighten them down (especially the fluorocarbon or monofilament as those lines will begin to melt when you tighten them down if not lubricated).
I personally use the Uni to Uni knot, but the Alberto should not break if tied correctly.

Rock Hound is correct, failure to lubricate the knot when tightening down your knot will weaken the fluoro or mono leader.
If you see any curling next to your knot, cut and retie. Saliva makes an excellent lubricant.
Double uni knot works well but not that easy to tie on the water I can’t see well enough with out lights
I’ve heard that the FG knot is superior to the double uni and Alberto but for me is a bitc# to tie. I’ve not had any failures with the Alberto so am sticking with it.

Bknecht , you hit the nail on the head.
I tie the FG at home. Just too much going on with the knot for me to effectively tie on the water. And it’s gotta be right or the knot strength suffers
The Alberto is a little easier , as has been said. Lube the knot before cinching.
Also on Alberto it’s important to pass the final tag end thru the loop opposite of first pass.
By this I mean if you first passed the braid thru the flouro loop from bottom up, then the final pass thru the loop should be from the top down This really makes a difference on the strength of the knot.
What weight line?. I've broken shock tips on my surf rods casting with 65# powerpro. A quick over spin on a cast and 6 ounces of lead snaps it like thread because there's not stretch to take up the shock.

Surgeon's knot. It's fast and strong. See Salt Strong knot test on YouTube.
I have been trying to learn to tie the fg knot. Supposed to have highest strength of any knot for joining line to leader. Acts like a Chinese finger toy. Ck out videos on internet for instructions.

Can't go wrong with this knot. Six turn for braid and three turn for mono.

been bass fishing over 60 years and i've never had a uni knot, double uni knot or a palomar knot slip or break. tight lines.
It depends if you are running the knot through your guides. If the Alberto knot is outside your guides then it works well. If the leader is too long and the Alberto knot runs through your guides it can stick on occasion. The FG knot works well in this situation. Yes it's a bit tricky to tie but it floats through the guides.
