Do you need to change your line every week?

I don’t think it’s necessary. I change mine every 2 years. I put them up every trip. Have not lost one to rotten line yet. I fish freshwater if I fished saltwater I might change every year. Good luck
Stipe off some making sure no nicks or rough spots. Usually reti after 4 or 5 fish and kinda check line. Just a suggestion.
That could get very expensive. Todays lines are far superior to the old mono that would dry out. Check for nicks n pull hard on it now n then. If you break it change it.
I add to it every year or two. Would do it every year but I forget! Take a 2 oz weight and cast as far as I can, cut the line and do it again then tie on new line and refill.

Agree. For mono u less you store rod in sun or hit trunk. Then it’s more often
I’ve had braid on for up to 4 years with no issues at all

Only if it is the same woman
Uhhh, no. Use common sense when it comes to your line. If you are using fluoro , get the best you can afford. When you are fishing, check your knot, and three feet of line closest to your lure periodically. If it feels rough , CUT ( do not break ) the line and re-tie your lure. Flourocarbon line is good stuff, especially compared to mono. Braid is also good stuff. Get the best you can afford . Other than the braided line fading , it will last for several years. I strongly suggest you purchase a good line conditioner . Use it on ALL types of line you use.....My 2cents.....
Not unless you are fishing professionally, getting free line or not using braid. I change mono out every 2 yrs or as needed (needs, knots, etc.)
The only fishermen I would imagine changing their lines every week, or so, and those professionals who are competing in tournaments and are given free line! There is not practical reason to do so. Just Sayin....RJS
I'm using mono I've had over 15 years -- being careful to keep it at house
temperatures AND IN THE DARK. I have braid bought when it was first invented,
and I still use it -- just so long as it is smooth and not frayed.
In the case of the mono, I mean I still occasionally spool up some from the
original spool, not that I've used it for 15 years! As Chuck 56 says, use a line conditioner
as some old mono can get stiff but stays very serviceable.
My favorite is Cajun line (red) because I can see fading or sun damage and will cut the line damaged by the sun. Once it gets down I will replace the rest, May be every 2 years. It is just as efficient catching fish as any other kind or brand. I do it on all the reals from 6# to 20# line..
