Well it is hot down here. LOL
Hey bud, currently in south Texas, but was born in Rockford. I'm coming up their about October 5th. Any good bass lakes within a couple hours away? I'm bringing my boat. Appreciate any feedback, thx.
I've been through the ice, but never on purpose. And the again, riding the Silver Strip from Coronado Island to Imperial Beach was the first time on a motorcycle where the wind heated me up, rather than cooling me down. Oh but back in 1976, just south of Imperial Beach, was the best dirt biking ever, and my Yamaha DT250 was a mountain goat. I didn't even feel the heat when dirt biking. I guess I was having too much fun climbing Bear-Killer.
Tip: Walking 6 miles out of the woods, to the road when your vehicle dies, in minus 15 degree weather, that brass zipper on your blue jeans becomes very uncomfortable. By the time I got to the main road, hitched a ride to the nearest tow, and got back to the van with help, I was shivering so bad I was almost useless. I was much colder than when I went through the ice. The wife and kids had the van windows cracked, the Coleman catalytic heater going, and were drinking hot chocolate made from melted snow. They were definitely more comfy than me. But I put my life on the line for their safety every time. I am not a fan of extreme hot, or extreme cold, though I have encountered both, many times. Barstow, CA was the hottest at 120' f., and then it rained for 5 minutes, turning the town into a steam sauna.. Sault Ste. Marie, MI., was the coldest at -35'F. with me sleeping in a tent. Bright side of Barstow; Carlos & Totos Restaurant, great Mexican food, and the best fried ice cream ever.
