"Give me a trout!"

It was the first day of trout season and Dave and I took to comfortable spot on a stream pool just before an old mill foundation. Our side was a sloped bank the other side was a sharp cut bank.

With polarized glasses we could see a large boulder in the middle of the stream hidden from view.

We were looking to catch a brooder size trout when 4 older teenager's took up residence directly across from us.

They dangled their legs over the edge making all kind of racket. Not good.

After 15 minutes, nobody caught anything and Dave's patience ran out.

Dave said* Give me a trout!

** What?

* Give me a trout!

As if I could produce a trout on demand. I cast up stream and my free lined bait sank down to the bottom just as it washed around the rock.
Thump!... Got him..
Slow retrieval then quick yank and it was at my feet and the boys saw nothing.

I handed the trout to Dave and he threw it grenade style over to the boys. He way over shot. We laughed.

* Give me a trout!
A repeat performance, another trout.
** Here you go!!

Dave threw again, landing the trout between the ring leader's legs.

### Did you see that??
There jumping!!

*Give me another!!

A repeat catch handing Dave, another trout.

He took aim and threw this one about 30 feet upstream. Splash!

### Look! They're moving up stream!! Let's go!!

The packed up their gear and moved up stream in search of those jumping trout.

We had the hole to ourselves again.
We never did catch a brooder that day. We did practice catch & release all that day, finally harvesting our limit for dinner that night.

Dave talking about the boys, "What a bunch of idiots!"

You are joking around here right Pix?

What comes to mind is seeing something like this from a alcohol filled fisher doing nearly the same thing from a boat one day. He would reel in a small trout and instead of releasing it, would toss the fish still hooked in hopes it would fly off.

Totally oblivious to our watching him and voicing about what an idiot he was.

I'll share this honey hole location, equipment and technique.

1) Fished opening day. Stocked trout were plentiful.

2) Location is the Old Mill stream 1 mile north of Luaral MD. The old mill is on the left of the country shops up the hill.
3) Pass the shallow water up to the mill. Climb over the mill foundation. The upper spill shoot always have a log and brush pile clogging the water entrance under the mill. Trout hang out here under the pile. The current runs faster on the opposite side cutting the bank. The large rock is in the middle of the pool. Turbulent waters feeding the pool from above for 30 yards. Stone line to calm water's feeding the right side of bank with trees and roots over and in the waters. Use spinner or casting a solid silver or golden Kast Master.

Slower waters all the way up to the water falls. Fish the falls and pools. Fish pile up there. Rocks lining the right hold few fish, the left side is sand. No fish there either. There is a long deep cut in the bottom in the middle of the dam extending 20 yards. Fish the bottom with bait.

4) Equipment is use on this stream is:
* 4 lb. Test vanishing moss green.
* Size 12 salmon egg hook.
* Meal worms for bait.
Silver Fox spinners in black & silver, or white & silver.
* 5 ft. Micro-lite rod
* Shimano ultra light reel.
* Small crimp-on split shot.
* Polarized sun glasses

5) Free drift the bait and slow roll the spinners.

At my age, I don't go out like used to. Now I need a high percentage chance of catching to tempt me to get out.

This is a hot spot for trout and you'll also land fall fish up to 10 inch.

I invite you to go try this location.
I will share more spots in the future.
I am now handicapped, and wish to pass on my knowledge to others.

Keep your rod tip bent with a tight line and you won't go hungry.

wouldnt like to know the outcome of seeing some ones throwing fish to encourage others to move. Definitely have a problem with that.

Just asking...Why?
They were loud, obnoxious, and ruining the fishing for everyone.
I guess you had to be there.

why use animals to prove a human's point of view?That doesnt sound decent and inhumane to living creatures that have no sense of that kind of bull hockey now, does it? Why put the fish in that predicament?
