Took the day off today, work has finally slowed down! So I’ll be fishing a couple week days before schools open for the new school year, caught 1 larger mouth, sure peaceful on a week day compared to the weekends, fun action packed morning, after fishing with mono for most of my fishing years, I’m setting up a braided pole. I’m not sure what brand I’m going to get ? If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated! Good luck and be safe!!

Nice. I like power pro, 20 pound test or so - I generally go with 17 for trout, then use a fluorocarbon leader. Power pro is really good line, you can find it about anywhere usually and it won't wreck you're wallet. My 2 ¢.

Nice fish Matt. I too am a Powerpro fan. You may want to go a little higher than 15. I'm not sure of the diameter of 15, but 10 is the same as 2lb mono. If you go too low on the size, and fish a fairly tight drag, it can cut into itself and give you trouble on succeeding casts.

Thanks Fred! This is some feed back I was hoping to get from some very Knowledgeable fisherman! Like urself and spirit, and Saw1, still not sure what Pnd. Just worried about losing all the Sensitivity that I’m use to with the mono.

20# is same diameter as 6# mono. Sensitivity will increase.
Powerpro. I use red because I read it dissappears underwater.

That’s what I thought you had, I found this at a Garage sale, I no you like a smaller reel I think it’s even smaller then the one you use on one of your poles, also have the PVC in my car,

Matt you will gain sensitivity with braid. You lose nothing in the stretch, like you do with mono.

I’m thinking about a new pole and reel both are made for braided line, I no way back when , when I was fishing with braided line, the braid was eating up the eyes on the pole, and the reel got all beat up, this is back 30 plus years ago! Also back then I was fishing second hand gear,

New gear can handle it. Not to worry.
Ceramic eyes vs bacķ then steel eyes.
Power pro vs back then spider wire.
Apple vs orange. No comparison.

The newer gear is 1000X more braid friendly. The modern braid is slicker as well, even the cheaper 4 or 5 carrier stuff. They also have 8 and 9 carrier line that's smoother but I don't think it justifies the higher price. I'm happy with Powerpro.
