Ohio Fishing

Having grown up & fished in N. Calif. until I was 21, lived, fished & hunted almost a decade in interiour Alaska and fished from coast to coast to include deep sea off of both coasts and a couple of the Great Lakes I must say that fishing in Ohio is, . . . well, different.
I wade rivers fly fishing, sit on banks and fish, have a nice pontoon boat set up strictly for fishing and just bought a new Nitro Z-21 Elite with every imaginable feature & electronics. Plus I probably have just as much fishing geae/equipment as any Bass Pro Shop.
All this being said (and not to brag at all), the one thing I do need to help me catch more fish here in Ohio appearently is a new "me" because the current "me" ain't doing so hot catching anything worth mentioning. LOL

Welcome to the club.
Ohio fishing can be frustrating at times.
I’m struggling a little this year myself.
Keep at it.

Everyone I have talked to says this year has been a tough year. I have heard a couple of the locals have had a good day or 2 but there have also been a lot of 0 to 1 fish days up here in the north west corner. Went down to Indian lake and only 1 of the 3 of us catch a fish.

I agree it's been tough this year. But I will keep plugging along as it beats working! LOL

I fished Indian Lake a lot this past Spring for Saugeye. It was really a lousy year for them. Even the regulars at South Beach were puzzled.

I really haven’t been able to put together any kind of successful pattern this year. In Ohio that is. Indian lake continues to confound me.
My Detroit river walleye trip was a flop . Lake st Clair small trip was very successful , but you can suck and catch smallies in st Clair in the spring.

Work schedule , other commitments and weather and very crowded lake conditions has kept me off the water a lot , but the times I have gotten out haven’t been very impressive.
I can usually figure em out pretty quick. Not so this season.

I can relate for sure.
I did fairly well on Erie for Walleye last week. Caught 5 nice keepers as did the rest of my group except one who got skunked.

Caught 2 limits of Catfish (3 lb average) on Alum Creek Resevoir a few weeks ago while Crappie fishing with Mepps in line spinners. Go figure! Also Caught a 14 inch Crappie earlier that day.

Aside from that, everything has been very small to non existent. Fished Indian Lake, CJ Brown, Ceasars Creek and Alum Creek Res so far this year. Considering Grand Lake Saint Mary's for Saturday? But might try Ceasars Creek Res again? Decisions, decisions. Lol
