Sunday while I was taking a leisurely trip to our municipal lake. Because it was less affected by our Fllash flood conditions
Was throwing a shakey head weedless specifically a buckeye lures spot remover 1/4 oz with a zoom 6 inch trick worm. Black
Got snagged. Pulled her loose but straightened the light wire hook a little .
Took pliers to the hook gap and got her back in shape pretty quick

Checked the point and it had a hook on it. Tip of the point bent over.
Death knell for me.
Haven’t ever had any luck that was Worth it to straighten a hook point and resharpen.
My opinion only , if you bend the direct point of any hook, ditch it.
Unless you are really good.

I've had ones bent in, and I've thrown them away too. Then I see these.

And I say to myself WTF?

Don't you have a hook sharpener? Grind it off and reshape it.

Fred that's why i started makeing my own jig heads n swimjigs. Fushing rocky rivers was getting expensive. Plus i get satisfaction from it. Brody caught his tiger muskie on my jig head. It's in a box. I still have the black red flake tender tube i got my 1st 18" SM with. He hooked me deep that day also. I've luvd bass fishing ever since. Sure would have been cheaper if i would have stuck with catfish 😂😂

You're not kidding there Grizz. Freshwater wise, Bass fishing can be the most expensive, even for a rookie like me. Saltwater, especially if you include Offshore, can really put a hurting on your bank account.

Rookie my butt Fred. You're close to pro status I'm a rookie brother. I still think about buying new things all the time. If i was younger n got out more I'd buy more. Some one will get it all one day. Pretty bad when given my limited budget i have more combis than the local wmart. They use to have a big fishing section. I rarely go in there any more 👎

I have a fishing room now. Just keep putting fishing equipment in it and finally the wife calls it a fishing room. Take the flower pictures down and put Bass pictures up. Then there is room for more gear in house than Walmart stocks these days. By the time I can’t fish anymore I’ll have a tackle shop. I have a plan.

Thanks Grizz, but not even in my dreams. I don't have even 10% of the gear someone like Ben, or Eyecrosser has. I try to have a little bit of everything, but I'm not even there yet. When fishing is very good (not often around here) I try to use a variety of tackle, looking for the BIG girls. Most of the time it's tough going, and I revert to basics just to avoid the skunk.
As far as Wally World goes, ours are going down hill as well. 30 some odd years ago I bought most of my tackle, and outfitted my little 12ft Jonboat at K-Mart. Everything from seats to carpet, trolling motor, rods, reels and lures and line. Sears was a close second for lures and terminal tackle. Then I discovered mail order places like BPS, Cabelas, and Gander Mountain . The money I saved on sales taxes paid for more stuff. Now we pay sales tax almost everywhere, so I buy what I can locally but there's not many choices anymore. So now most is online.

I like the plan Jwid! Extra income, and you stay in the game as much as possible. Excellent!

I will be having one next year Food, after I take care of my fishing buddys. Probably get rid of my offshore gear and some other saltwater stuff.I'll keep enough for occasional use, and my currently used freshwater gear. EVERYTHING ELSE MUST GO!!!

I bend all my hooks out...about 5 degrees. I catch way more fish that way.
