Seldom do I know, nor can I know, what effect my stories have unless you as readers comment on what you’ve just read. Believe me, I know all that I write are not great, not even good, but I will never know which unless you readers give me some signals as to which is which.

So, why am I writing this essay? To solicit your cooperation in giving me feedback on what you read. Not great, say so! Factual errors? I know there are times when you think about some response and then decide against taking the time to write something. You will not hurt my feelings I have a thick skin and am soliciting your participation! Go for it!

And when you do if you can be specific in what you like and don’t like. I am a Southerner, born and lived almost all my life, so there may be some things I say that you may disagree with, please feel free to set me straight. I have lived in the North and can appreciate the differences. New Yorkers think just like Texans but that is o.k. with me.

You don’t have to be an English professor to criticize my stories. You are the judge and jury so let me know your verdict. We all learn by doing and correcting our mistakes. I have my stories and the repartee. I do not know what I would have done during our recent quarantine if I have enjoyed posting not had this source to spend my time. Thank you and God Bless all the members of the Fishing Forum. Just Sayin....RJS

Your stories, all our stories, are what we’re here on earth for, to tell and pass on. It’s what civilization is based on.
You’re doing us all a favor with your stories. Please keep them coming.

Your stories are great! I think many on here have stories to tell but don't have your ability to tell them

Dbed: Thanks! Storytellers who tell stories sharpen their skills by telling more stories. It is the same as learning to use a bait caster reel, practice, practice, etc. Just Sayinb...RJS

Hi, Robert !
In case some of us have forgotten, oral traditions preceded the written word by thousands of years - passing down knowledge and information
to younger generations by 'word of mouth' has been around since the cavemen first developed language, and if Neanderthals are any type of indication/example, probably long before language as well, as they had their own form of communication !

Tribes back then had storytellers to
pass information along, then in the middle ages they had bards and minstrels to pass along stories/
family histories ! Oral traditions have been around since the dawn of man, so keep on telling your stories -
we'll listen to/read them !

Yes, Storytelling was before any written language or communication. I have been the member of Tejas Storytelling Assn. here in Texas for over 3 years, and a past member of the board of Directors. Just Sayin....RJS

Robert, thank you, thank you for your stories. Most I have thoroughly enjoyed. Some have been enlightening, some have been amusing, all have been well written and great reads. There have been a very few where I did not find the content interesting, but it was not because of hp we they were written. Please, keep them coming! I appreciate you.

I would be honored Robert. I can't just come up with stories out of thin air. However, conversation or other people telling stories triggers my memories, then the stories come out.
Good luck with the move. Being close to your family will be good for you at this point in your life. Just think how many more times the kids and the grands can hear your stories.

Robert I would have to say thank you. I have always enjoyed reading your stories and like others have said you write them down where people can understand them. Keep up the good work 😁

Yankeeblue: That is the exact reason for having storytelling sessions, it prompt your memory and allows you to prompt other's memories, so that everyone is benefitted. There is a professional storyteller from N. Carolina who is a master at this and he was at a convention of Tejas Storytelling Assn. in Fort Worth a few years ago, he did a masterful job of telling stories, but at a workshop he also told how you could delve into your grand parents, Uncles, and Aunts who were quite old and get them to recall some of their for-gotten memeories, I realized I had been doing it already, and also I could do it on myself. That's how I recollect some of my experiences. I will share that witht he group. Just Sayin...RJS
