Bass fishing: Line recommendations?

I'm busting out the old baitcaster. It's lined with spiderwire braid, which I hate. Always seems to fray and slip on me. Was wondering if there's a better go to braided line y'all use

Power pro is definitely the best out there, or is thought to be the best by most anglers, myself included. There are others but power pro will last forever and never fail you

For me the best braid out there is called monofilament!

If you mean slip on the spool ? Put a short piece of electrical tape over the knot when you tie it on, then wind the line in !

Power Pro is the best. I don't know what you're casting into, but if it's lilypads, 50# is what you want.

Do use a leader with that? If so, what # ?

Depends on how thick the vegetation is and how sporting you want to be. Caught this big boy with a 10 foot leader of 12 # mono in lilypad hell with a shiner on a #10 bait hook. Quite frankly, it was a miracle that I got him in. I kept his nose up so he couldn't rap around the lilypads. Had to tie a new leadr on afterwards because it was all stretched out and twisted. The Power Pro 50# is thin enough to tie directly to the hook. I guess it depends on how bad you want to land a fish.

I've used power pro for over 30 yrs. I still have part of the 1st spool i ever bought. 80lb test for surf fishing. In time i found i didn't need line that heavy. Now i use 8 to 20 lb at times 30. I frog rod has 50 lb. Power pro supep slick real nice. I don't use tape instead i use 8/10 lb mono at times floro backing. Never had a problem with that setup. It's all preference👍

That is indeed one big salmon! Any chance that photo was taken on the Kenai River in AK? That is a fantastic fishery, as well as just about any river connected to the ocean up there! You are wearing an awesome smile. That had to be a thrilling catch! Thanks for posting!
