Reel service after storage

Getting ready for a musky excursion
Didn’t use my Tranx 300 at all last year and maybe once the year before that ( I’ve been pretty busy)
Question is …
Should I do a full service clean and lube or no.
This is like 2 1/2 years since it’s last service. And it only had one light season on it when I serviced it last.

Your thoughts?

Give it a thorough inspection as you have too much at stake!

Yup Ben it sure couldn’t hurt. Probably wouldn’t take more than 2-3 hours to disassemble, clean, inspect, grease, oil and reassemble. If nothing else I’d give you peace of mind knowing that your good to go.

Just do a quick dust-off and visual, lubing sparingly.....tie on a 3oz sinker and make 3-4 casts while feeling and listening during the retrieve. If it feels and sounds normal it's ok

Ben, from what I gather by reading all of your posts and replies you appear to be meticulous with your equipment. I would do it or you’ll have that nagging doubt in your head. Good luck with the muskies, hope to see some pictures.

Get a DIY video off Youtube. Makes it easier.

I may depend on how you store your reels. I keep all of mine in a box, in my garage. Kept cool and in the dark. I may grease/lube before I put them away after use (after cleaning) or before I used them again.

If it was stored properly, then probably not.
