I recently bought a Jackson Bite Angler. It’s a little over 70 pounds, which I didn’t think would be a big deal (my canoe is 50 lb and it’s pretty easy for me to carry around). Turns out my Bite is a huge pain to carry around. I use a cart when I can, but I have to carry it down some stairs and rough terrain at the lake. It’s quite wide. Any tips on how to carry a heavy/unwieldy kayak?

Same reason I got rid of my Jackson Coosa. Great kayak in the water but getting it there was too much for me. It takes two! I now have a 42lb inflatable.

Captain Lahti Loc: Kennewick, WA

Only thing I can suggest is a set of wheels at one end so you can work it like a wheel barrow. They make them for canoes. That helps you down but you still have to tow it back up the stairs. Don’t go with small wheels as they make it hard going up.

--use 2 Friends, mine is 96lbs and I have to have help it is just what it is

You might want to try a strap. Loop it around the kayak and over your shoulder. Might take a little adjusting and some practice, but much easier than just grabbing with your hands.
