Recently moved to Humboldt county California from New Jersey. I've always been a die hard fisherman and have been trying my best here using the knowledge of saltwater fishing that I learned over the years on the east coast. I've had a little bit of luck but not as much as I would like. Any suggestions on any aspect of the sport is welcome. Thanks in advance.Fish On!!!

You got two jetties up there, I've only ever been to one of em. Find your way over to the south jetty, it's not that hard, and you can drive all along it, really good access to the beach and all that that implies. Lots of surf perch (really good eating) which don't get too big, halibut and stripers, sand dabs. Hang out over there and talk to the locals. Sand crabs are easily harvested and they're great bait for all of that - that's what they all eat. If you want to throw a lure, try a luckycraft surf pointer. If you know how to read the surf, good - if you don't learn. Spend some time studying the beach at low tide, find the seams, the rocks, the structure of it so you'll know where they hang out when the surf's in. Good luck. Share some photos of the place and your catches.
Welcome to the stage Jimmyboy ! Good luck in California.
