A while back I asked for suggestions on buying a new rod and reel. Some of you made some great suggestions including The Lew's American Hero reel . Part of that purchase price goes to helping veterans.

My friend Bear, who many of you helped with a donation for a guide(I need to call the guide and work around my new work schedule so we can go soon) surprised me by buying that reel as an early birthday gift. I paired the reel with a Fenwick Eagle rod. I need to get the line on it but I am pumped to try this combo out. I feels great.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Sounds like a nice combo Greg. Hopefully it's a skunk breaking one. Now spool her up and Christen her with a nice fat Crappie!

That’s a nice setup there Greg. Make sure you look at the spool to match the line sizes it will take. If we knew when your birthday was we could wish you a happy birthday. So here it is an early happy birthday. I hope it’s a great one.

I love my 3 Fenwicks Gh1. You can tell on the first cast if it's a good fit. Mine are.

You got it OJ. So far, nothing big enough to keep or worth showing you guys. Maybe the new setup will bring us some luck.
