So I’ll be at a cabin in Ellajay Ga, in a few weeks, the property has waterfront access to a smaller river in the back and it has trout, what kind of baits or lures should I use to fish for these?I fish saltwater in FL so I’m not sure what to grab,I’ll be using spinning reels on my poles.any advice would be greatly appreciated

Panther Martin spinners size #1 & #2. I’ve caught hundreds of trout all over the country on these simple spinners. Simply cast into moving water, let it sink for a bit and let do its thing. My favorite colors are yellow body silver blade and black body copper blade.
Also, ultra light spinning rod, 1500 ( small ) spinning reel with no larger than 6lb test line. I’d suggest 4lb test...🎣
Bass face right on, if catch and release you can also find similar rooster tail brand with a single hook, regardless easier to get out and make barbless if need to. The ultra light also just makes more fun and lighter line I think matters when pulling bait across fish's nose and they smack it. I also like the Classic Vibrax® | Blue Fox - Rapala it ranks up there as well. Finally I usually always have a small spoon to use when Panther Martin not getting job done. You have those 2-3 baits and have a back up or two for each in case break off you will do well. Let us know how you do.

whatever else you do, before gearing up and guessing what will work, go to a couple places that sell fishing stuff where you want to fish and get the local knowledge. they will want you to catch fish because it's good for their business, so you're not likely to get a bum steer. stream trout feed on whatever comes downstream as they cruise around, and fly fishing or Takara style are always best and most fun. All the shiny tiny lures will work, but I've always had great luck with Z-rays, silver or gold with red dots. 4lb test max. 2 better. not likely to pull out anything bigger than 2 lbs.
if fishing from a boat, try drifting just slower than the current (or anchor, if no trolling motor) and stay upstream from a baited hook, which should be bumping along the bottom as you drift. adjust weight of split shot to current, looking for it to bounce cleanly off the bottom ("riffle") with bait about a foot or so above the shot, drifting ahead of the shot if possible. we've used corn, mini-marshmellows, salmon eggs, or any combination on a small treble hook, with one hook uncovered. some people use Velveeta or other cheese bits, but we didn't have any so cant say from personal knowledge.
if it's a really slow-moving stream, you can try a slip bobber rig, to keep bait just off the bottom. same baits as above.
May have told this one already..
Little guy where I used to live in upper East Tennessee..Stoney Creek in Elizabethton, stayed drunk much of the time. He'd stash his beer under the creek bank and retrieve a couple at a time. You'd see him walking down the holler on occasion with some trout.
One day he had several on a stringer.
"Nice fish, Jimmy...what'd you use for bait"?
"Oh...a litttle piece of dennymite about this big..."
RIP Jimmy Fletcher
