Some of you may remember our friend and fellow fisher ( Iowa Farmer ) posted his tractor and planter broke down last week. Just another reminder that we on the receiving end of the food chain, really don’t know what it takes to put that steak and potatoes with the bread and butter in front of us.

So, I take my straw hat off in salute to the Iowa Farmer along with many more out there here on the stage and those in the fields with a Thanks and appreciation for what you do on a 24/7 basis.

Good mornin' plum. So true, and let's not forget WVMike. How many other farmers on here? I was raised on a farm. I got married and went on a honeymoon, and when I got back my brother had sold the cows. That was a good thing.

Gmorn Plum. Been waiting on this one brother. You already know farming was another job i enjoyed. One i would have stayed in if it came with the benifits construction offered. Hot dirty hard 7 day wks yr around. Definitely a job you have to luv. Most of the country has no idea what it takes n costs to keep a farm running. I've actually had big city people tell me they didn't need farmers. They get their stuff at the store. Maybe they though the eggs they saw we carry in grew inside my truck. Farmers are so dependent on the weather. Too much rain not enough. To hot to cold you name it. Growing crops is a crap shoot. Support your local famers everyone. I'm done. God bless them πŸ™πŸ™πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Thanks Fly. I recently told Plum how much i enjoyed being on the farm. I was on unemployment we had 26 months back then. Not 26yrs with extra money. No jobs to be found start of 1970. I heard farmer was looking for help. I lied about my experience to get the job. I had a wife n kid. Left Hagerstown moved to farm outside of Waterville md. I learned quickly. I worked 6 12hr days n Sunday morning till milking n feed done. May $78 a wk n free house. Told Plum in the 2yrs i was there not 1 morning did i wake up n say dang i hate this job. Many day i worked from 6am to dark. He gave me extra for over 12hrs. 2nd child i knew i needed insurance thats when i got into construction. 6yrs of that n too many layoffs i went to chicken farm. Job for life they said 2yrs sold out. Then came orchard foreman. Again no much pay but free house. I was getting older n wiser n knew i need benufits n a retirement plan. A little more they 9rs the county job came along. Back to running equipment. 24yrs later i retired. Enjoyed the work but absolutely hated the politics involved. Y'all have a great day. Stay safe n i hope those that aren't retired yet get to enjoy it. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Ever considered starting your own farm griz? Sounds like you had a pretty good back ground in it.

Grew pumpkins for over 20 yrs, every season i would have 6 to 7 thousand wrapped up in seed & chemical without even knowing if ur gonna get it back. Drought, disease, insects, deer all play a role
Some years your scrambling just to break even
Trying to bail straw now,but rain every day is putting that on hold
πŸ‘πŸ‘to all farmers

Wont happen here either. Only thing that belongs in a burger is real meat. Only vegetable that my burger will be mixed with is a slice of tomato on top. Lettuce? Most likely not. That's for the rabbits, the other dark meat.

The big city people were wealthy snotty women from Baltimore. Our farm maket was in Baltimore pike. They'd come to Hanover Pa to shop the outlets from there to York Pa. Definitely thought they was special. So rich but so clueless. Guess i should have felt sorry for them. What i had was more than they'd ever have. The thing money can't buy the luv of life n the great outdoors. 🎣🎣🎣🎣

Hey E, how did you ever make money in pumpkins? One time of the year they are everywhere and what is left over seem to just disappear from the road side carts.

Like my thread this morning, we here on the receiving end have no idea what it takes to make a living in that profession.
