Went to the local convenience store to buy night crawlers for fishing. They were marked at 2 dollars. The guy at the cash register said that will be $2.18. I said "I thought there was no sales tax on food in this state". He said "this isn't food, it's fish bait". I asked "if I eat one will you waive the sales tax?" No, but nice try.

Well a box of 12 night crawlers for 2 bucks = .1666666 cents apiece. So you would have saved 2 cents.
I think I would rather have the extra night crawler for bait. But that's "My" 2 cents.

Night crawlers are too skinny. You don't get much taste outa one . I like the big old worms you dig around the septic tank. They have a lot more flavor and they catch fish a lot better, too.

That's a funny encounter...and quick wits on your part to make the suggestion to the clerk. I like that sense of humor!

I'd chewed up and swallowed a nightcrawler "on a dare", ONCE (while RIGHT phookin' TOASTY on booze, beer, wine and dope)... I heard about THAT, for the next 6 years,! (We were on an overnight camping/fishing trip way back in the late 1980's; I believe it was.)

In 4th grade we read How to Eat Fried Worms in class. I had a worm farm and began eating then like the character in the book. I’ve easily consumed 50 night crawlers. The taste like chewy dirt!

Back in the late 50's Sheldon and I would go fishing at Tar Wharf on Dorchester Bay. We would go to to A-1 Bait Shop on Dot Ave. Seaworms were about $1.50 a dozen. We didn't have enough $$$ The owner said I'll tell you what!! bring me 6 dozen nightcrawlers and I'll give you a dozen seaworms in exchange. When we went fresh water fishing we would get crawlers at night with flashlights at St. Peters Rectory because they watered the lawn every other day and we reached thru the iron fence and picked them up. So we got 6 dozen and got our dozen seaworms in trade. We did this several times til on one morning the bait shop was closed so we went to Tar Wharf with the night crawlers!!
Duh!! Caught as many fish with them as with seaworms!!! Dumb young kids!! Now we are Dumb Old Farts!!
Still love telling each other fish stories!!

I'll be quite honest with you about that idea, mistred64... I'll let you have MY share of THAT dinner (or breakfast, or; what-have-you)!!!
