Hello all. I have a couple poles and im trying to figure out what to use for line and hooks and bait. There are also lots of largemouth and pike present apparently.

Pole 1: Lews Xfinity spinning combo, 10lb braid, clip on bobber, small split shot, octopus hook, couple nightcrawlers.

Pole 2: Ugly Stik medium heavy with Shimano Sienna 4000, 30lb braid, 1oz slip sinker, bead, barrel swivel, 2' 30lb braid leader, 5/0 circle hook, shrimp.

Should I change the leader to something else? Change baits? etc

Just a personal opinion, Bruleycj, but I think your Pole 2 is best suited for catfish. Having grown up during WW II, almost anything one had was O.K. Just Sayin....RJS

Hello all. I have a couple poles and im trying to ... (show quote)

Rod #1will work fine for panfish and small to medium sized Bass.
Rod #2should be fine for Cats, the leader is fine as Cats aren't line shy.
If the toothy critters show up all bets are off.
