Imagine this in winter or when there's a traffic jam
Has anyone thought about it?
If all cars were electric ... and were caught up in a three hour traffic jam... dead batteries! Then what?
Not to mention, that there is virtually no heating in an electric vehicle.
And if you get stuck on the road all night, no battery, no heating, no windshield wipers, no radio, no GPS (all these drain the battery) !!!
You can try calling 000/911 to bring women and children to safety!
But they cannot come to help you since all roads are blocked and the greenies will probably require all police cars to be electric also (if we still have police departments then) !!
And when the roads become unblocked no one can move! Their batteries are dead and they cannot move.
How do you charge the thousands of cars in the traffic jam? (That is a business I think I’d like to look into.)
Same problem during summer vacation departures with miles of traffic jams.
There is virtually NO air conditioning in an electric vehicle. It would drain your battery quickly.
This will make cars run out of "fuel" and create never ending traffic jams, not to mention high tempers.
No PC reporter talks about this of course!
You can’t even call in horses to rescue you.
The Animal Rights Lobby are against using horses and cows. Besides they defecate and produce methane!
If there is even the remote chance of having personal choice, I will keep my old gas guzzling SUV. It has both the power, heater and air conditioning that makes Texas
weather bearable! Just Sayin...RJS
I agree completely with the potential for issues! There are so many ramifications to making a complete switch. The idea of a "supplemental" vehicle fleet that is all electric does makes sense in certain scenarios...but not for the mainstream. I'd use one to fetch my mail...but that's about it!
Not sure if I want to be in:
1. Electric airplanes
2. Electric boat engines
3. Electric ORV's
4. Electric snowmobiles
Probably other stuff too I am just not thinking about yet....
I have noticed that electric bicycles have become very popular. Probably a good application, especially for the "pedal assist" mode that helps folks with endurance and aging knees.
I foresee gasoline rationing cards in our future...to limit just how much fun a person is allowed to have...I hope that I am wrong!
Well, electric cars may be O.K. for New Jersey or New York, but thinking of our long distances here in Texas, i could not afford that long of an extension cord. Just Sayin..RJS
From my home to my favorite get away fishing lake is 400 miles. A Tesla doesn't have that range on a full charge. I would have to stop at a service station to recharge. My question is how long does it take for a recharge? I'm guessing a lot longer than filling the gas tank.

No way I'd give up my 94 f150 cost me 3500 dollars and 4x4 with 80000 miles for a 150000$ or more battery powered car
Presently stocking up on extension cords just in case it gets that way so i can get to the M & G next year. LOL LOL

It's the long haul drivers that i wonder how that is going to fly. Can't get mail on time as it is coming from one coast to the other. Bring back the ponies i guess.
Can you imagine needing a transplant and the replacement is being transported from out of state and the driver runs out of power?
All outgoing mail goes on aircraft, bulk mail like magazines is trucked. All local mail is trucked. No organs for transplant is trucked, goes on small charter jets.....but I get your point

You’ve given this a lot of thought Ronnie and you’ve made some valid points. 👍
I personally will not go 100% electric but must say I love my hybrid!
Might be a good fit for taxi cabs. Let's see...perhaps we could call them "Johnny cabs"...oh wait, that name has already been branded...but since it was on Mars maybe we could still use it here!
