And I don't mean the skunk as in not catching fish. I used to work for a golf course and got to be good friends with Andy the course manager. Well, I wasn't working there anymore, but he called me up and says, "Leo, do you trap anymore?" "Nope, sold all of my traps, why?" "Well, we have a skunk problem on the golf course, they are digging up the greens trying to get the grubs." "Well, how would it be if I shot them for you?" "It would stink like he11." "Yep, you got a better idea? "No, we have to get rid of them or they are going to ruin all of the greens." "You call the cops and tell them that my buddy, Greg, and I will be out there tonight running around in a pick-up with big lights on in, shooting skunks with a shotgun." It might be a good idea to call a few of the neighboring houses on the golf course too and tell them to spread the word about what we are going to be doing. And, you have to pick them up the next morning." So that night, Greg and I go out with his big old jacked-up Chevy pick-up with more lights on it than a Christmas tree and start shooting skunk. He would shoot five and I would drive, and then I would shoot five and he would drive. Of course, we had some barley pop along, to help improve our aim. About midnight, we ran out of shells, so, we went home. I called Andy the next morning and asked him how he did picking them up? "The worst job I ever had, I upchucked three times. Can you guys come out tonight?" "Love to" So, we went out the second night and the third night. The tally; 26 the first night, 14 the second night, and 3 the third night. Andy said, "That's enough, I can't pick any more up." The golf course has never had any more damage to their greens, but it did stink around there for quite a while.

I suspect that the truck needed a run thru the car wash after that 3 day escapade to remove any scent from adhering to the paint! Wow...what an adventure that must have been! Would have been neat to have a "Go Pro" or similar camera mounted to capture some interesting footage! Pretty good marksmanship too I might add! Fun story!

We used to do same in peach and apricot orchards and alfalfa fields for jackrabbits they stunk in a different way but became fertilizer or we would feed farm dogs the dead rabbits. Farmers would give us 22 ammo to do it. Fun at midnight with suds. Ride around standing up in pickup with the roof to set our brew between shots.
