Fishing In and Around Colorado Springs

I'm gonna be in the Springs πŸ” area for the next 8 months or so. I'm not a fly fisherman and don't have access to a boat, so I'm limited to "nearby" reservoirs and/or waters in/on Fort Carson or USAF Academy for trout or better yet, 🐟 panfish.

Any experienced locals with suggestions for me how, when and where to introduce my early teenaged grandkids to the world of fishing while their dad is stationed overseas, would be greatly appreciated. They are unsure about wanting to even try their luck. I bought them tackle 🎣 when they arrived here nearly 5 years ago but they haven't pulled any of it out of the rafters since 😦.....☘

Sorry I can't really help you but I can make a few suggestions. I would talk to your local bait shops plus also check out Google and YouTube for panfish around that area. Good luck. Ya got to go early πŸ˜πŸ‘

Take the kids for a ride to check out those reservoirs and get them engaged in finding a spot. Talk to the local bait shop and they will help you out with where to go and what to use. I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

Check the internet to see if there is a local fishing forum in the area. Good luck! Welcome to this Forum.

Prospect Lake, Quail Lake and Pikeview all in Colorado Springs. Monument Lake, about 17 miles north in Monument, Palmer lake just a little further north and Pueblo Lake about 45 miles south in Pueblo also Runyon lake in Pueblo.

Try Manitou lake north of Woodland Park on hwy 67 for trout. North of Woodland Park on Hwy 24 is eleven mile reservoir ( trout ,northern Pike and Kokanee salmon. There is a tackle / fly shop on the N W corner of Hwy 24 and 21st street in Colorado Springs. They can tell you where the better places to fish to maximize success.

Wow, great suggestions for the local Colorado Springs area 😁, thanks for the excellent ideas and places to check out πŸ‘. This group constantly amazes me with the friendliest members and quickest replies when questions are asked, no matter what the various fishing-related 🐟 subjects πŸ€”. Thanks to all; I'm gonna follow-up on the many suggestions and hopefully get my grandkids interested in local 🎣fishing so they can get their dad to continue the fun-tastic sport when he returns from his overseas assignment next year πŸ˜‰.....☘
