It hasn't been good. Too much rain. Water levels are up now but were low until recent rain. Water is pretty muddy. Warmer temps this week should help. April and May are generally the best on Douglas for crappie.

G-man is correct in the water levels and color all along the Tennessee river, we've had a ton of rain this year but the water Temperatures will affect the bite a little more than water color or depth. Here where I'm fishing the fish are staging wanting to spawn but the cooler weather has lowered the water temps just a little.
Look for usual spawning flats and back out just a little, if there's an old creek channel in these areas, start there in deeper water and work your way in to shallower. Yesterday I expected to find fish shallow making beds but found them deeper in 12 to 15 feet of water and were scattered out. Crappie are really wanting to spawn right now and just as soon as water levels and temps. settle out just a little they'll be shallow on the bed. The fish I caught yesterday were full of eggs and there was blood in the eggs a sure sign of them being ready to lay, conditions just gotta get a little more in their favor.
Thanks we are going to give it a try this weekend going fishing is better than sitting at home .
