The freeze caused by Global Warming LOL set crappie back a week or two. Big females were moving under docks on Lake Palestine (close to Fork) prior to BLIZZARD. Waters <50*. Five degrees and it’s on.

My fishing buddy & I usually hit lake fork, Texas in late Feburary but this year it'll be a few weeks later. His wife's brother just passed from covid so we've got to give her time to heal a little. He called me yesterday & said he's taking her to Arizonia to watch the desert bloom. Anyway, we fish lake fork & have a great time. Our best catches of crappie come from fishing around the bridge piers. We drive by the piers slowly watching the locators for schooling fish. I have both down scan & side scan but side scan does seem to be best. When we find fish we'll either tie the boat off or use the spot lock feature to keep us over the fish. I prefer not to use spot lock over schooling crappie as I feel it make the fish spooky. Just my opinion.
