New to the Euro nymph game, but I recently had some trouble when trying to use this technique on water that had a softer, silty river bottom in deeper water (approx. 5-7ft). On rocky or pebbly bottom, I could keep the line tight and see and feel my nymphs ticking the bottom. But on the soft bottom, I was getting too much slack in the leader, and generally unable to feel anything along the drift. Is this just an issue of Euro not being an ideal technique for soft riverbeds, or is it just a question of improving/changing my technique?
