What kinda hook is this. Why is it made this way. What kinda hook do you prefer. Unscramble this and use it to prepare your fish.

Use circle hooks when striper fishing due to my friend’s request but really miss setting the hook the “old fashioned way”.

Good job Bucky.
BK, circle hooks are mandatory on the East Coast for Stripers, when using natural bait, Starting 1/1/21.
As usual they didn't investigate, and define "Natural Bait" very well. EXAMPLE -A bucktail jig is considered a lure, no circle hook required, add a Pork Rind and its considered "Natural Bait ". Virtually NO ONE makes bucktail jigs with a circle hook. Just because a Pork Rind is organic, doesn't make it a Natural Bait. I've never seen pigs being chased by Stripers!
The Fisherman magazine is reporting that fishing organizations are trying to get an exemption added to the law to disqualify Pork Trailers as a Natural Bait. Let's hope that they are successful.

Using in line circle hooks for stripers is the new law on most of the east coast.

Good job Bucky. br BK, circle hooks are mandatory ... (show quote)

Thanks FF, didn’t know it was yet law and all the obscure language defining “natural bait “.

Circle hook. I use them on my tube baits with a snell knot; really increased my hook up percentages.

I tried inline circle hooks on bluegill last year. It cut my gut hooking on worms to less than half what I got normally. Big improvement since I let them all go. Only had to snip off one hook instead of 4 or 5 over the course of a day.

Ben i see you said inline circle hooks. Some may not read that in the book and go with offset circle which isn't allowed. I'm on Maryland DNR site and receive emails on new rules n regulations. Fishing reports frow upper potomac to the bay. Really big on bay reports. Whats biting where they're biting n what they're hitting. It's a good site for this area. I found out last year you can't have 3 treble hooks of a lure used for strippers. Different rules n regulations every where you go
